What a story.
Also known as "The Comeback King", his story almost defies belief.
A successful Melbourne barrister in the 1970s, this high flier crashed back down to earth - in a big way.
With habits of drinking enough beer to fill a dozen men's boots per day, prolific gambling, and eating his way to a weight of nineteen stone, his need for money led him to commit fraud - and eventually armed robbery.
At his lowest point, a prison psychologist described him as a tragic figure. A hopeless case, he'd even been diagnosed with brain damage.
But it was actually in jail that he started to make his way back. He analysed what had gone wrong. He set himself goals and came up with a personal philosophy he called "mental toughness" ... a merciless regime of self improvement. He got his weight down, he got his IQ up, he kicked his alcohol dependency.
Since then, Graeme has been an extraordinary success with these achievements under his belt:
- Author of the best selling novel "Never Give Up"
- Entrepreneur behind the World Masters of Business, which saw General Norman Schwarzkopf, Lee Iacocca, Stephen Covey and Richard Semler present on the same platform for the first time ever
- 3 years at Budget Rent A Car
- On the National Executive that launched the Australian Customer Service Association
- Success on the national public speaking circuit
- Managing Director of Motivational Focus specialising in customer service.
Do you agree that this story would be absolutely fantastic for the long term unemployed? Here's a snippet of the training video we produced for him for this very reason...
